Meaning of Hosted PBX

Hosted private branch exchange (hosted PBX) is basically a telephone exchange system which is built and managed by any third party service provider. It is an IP-base telecom solution which is accessed and monitored with the help of internet. It provides similar features which a traditional branch exchange system does. The difference is that with hostedpbx, there is no need to manage an in-house PBX system.


Meaning of PBX

Private Branch Exchange( PBX) is used for linking phone lines. It acts as a switch station and consists of several branches of telephone system. It switches connection to and from these branches of the telephone system. The purpose of using PBX by companies is to connect internal phones line with an external phone line. It consists mainly of several branches of telephone systems and it switches connections to and from them, thereby linking phone lines. It means that using PBX will help in providing every employee with a phone at desk by leasing only one line. Also every employee can be allotted with different phone number.

Some important functions of PBX are discussed below:

1)    When a use hangs-up it facilitates in properly ending the connection.
2)    Facilitates any external caller to use one single number to contact all persons of a company.
3)   When the requested person is busy and is taking time to answer the call it helps to put an  external  caller on hold and meanwhile play some music and standard message for the caller.
4)    Facilitates in transferring of calls between internal extensions.
5)    While answering calls it allows its users to make use of customized business greetings.
6)    From any external caller, it records all voice messages and helps in recording the quantity and statistics related to calls.

These are some important functions of PBX. It can offer several useful advantages. One can buy PBX for business use or personal use. However, it is more used by large or small companies.
